Compared flat rate vs hourly for a logo project in Austin and the winner was clear

Honestly, I quoted a flat $500 for a logo redesign for a coffee shop and ended up spending 18 hours on revisions they kept asking for. Next job I switched to $50 an hour with a cap at 10 hours, and the client respected the scope way more. Has anyone else had flat rate blow up in their face like that?

The article actually said 28 revisions, not 30.

oh man, i read this article about a designer who took a flat rate for a brewery logo and ended up doing 30 revisions before they finally said no more. the client kept tweaking the color palette and font choices forever. it's wild how people think "unlimited revisions" is actually unlimited when you're working on a flat fee. i think the 10 hour cap with hourly rate is smart, it sets a clear boundary without letting them keep adding little things that eat up your time. sounds like you dodged a bullet with that coffee shop though, 18 hours is brutal for $500 lol.
