That $50 contract template I bought off a lawyer saved my butt on a $3k project
Ngl I was about to use some freebie template from a blog but decided to drop $50 on a proper freelance contract from a lawyer's site. Client tried to ghost on payment and the late fee clause actually held up. Anybody else had good luck with paid templates over free ones?

Oh man, tell me about it. I read something just the other day about how a lot of those free templates are missing key clauses that actually protect you. It's like buying a cheap lock for your front door. @kellyallen you hit the nail on the head, those expensive lessons really do sting. Thomas river is right too, that $50 is basically insurance. I'd rather pay a little upfront than lose the whole $3k because I skimped on a contract.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself... free templates don't catch you when you fall, they just let you hit the ground. Put $50 in the contract pot and saved way more than that since.
