That friend who told me to put cancellation clauses in every contract
My buddy Mark said always add a 30 day cancellation notice. I ignored him for 2 years. Just had a client vanish mid project with no warning and no payout.

Man that stings, I feel for you. It's rough when you learn a hard lesson like that, especially when a buddy already warned you. Mark was looking out for you, and now you know why. That 30 day notice is a lifesaver because it protects you from exactly this kind of ghosting. You put in the work and they just vanish without paying, it's not right. Hope you can recover what you're owed, or at least move on to better clients who won't pull that.
