Took a gamble on a $50 Shopify theme and it outperformed my $300 one
Last month I launched a store for a client in Portland and they insisted on a cheap theme from the marketplace. I was honestly embarrassed to show it to them at first you know? But the conversion rate ended up being way higher than the expensive custom theme I built for another client. The simple layout just loaded faster and didn't confuse people. Has anyone else had a lower-cost setup beat out the fancy stuff?

And honestly, the expensive stuff usually has so many features nobody needs that it just ends up slowing everything down and confusing people. A simple clean design lets the product speak for itself without all that noise getting in the way.

Jump right into it, I've noticed this in all sorts of stuff not just websites. Seems like the EXPENSIVE stuff often gets overcomplicated trying to look impressive, but the simple version just gets the job done faster and cleaner. My buddy spent a fortune on a fancy grill with all these features and gadgets, but my cheap old kettle grill cooks the same burger just as good if not better because there's less to mess up. Sometimes LESS really is more, people just don't want to admit it.
