Pro tip: I started putting 30% of each check straight into a separate account for taxes.

I used to get hit with a huge tax bill every April and would have to scramble to find the cash. After a bad year in 2022, I opened a new online bank account and set up an auto-transfer rule. How do you guys handle setting aside money for quarterly payments?

Love that idea, I started doing the same thing last year. Getting that surprise bill was the worst feeling, wasn't it? Now the money is just gone before I even see it.

Totally agree, that surprise bill feeling is the worst kind of stress... like a punch in the gut. Rounding up is such a smart move. I even do it with my grocery budget, just toss an extra ten bucks into savings each trip. After a few months, you barely notice the money was ever there, but it builds up for those random expenses. Makes everything feel way more under control.

Yeah, that surprise bill feeling is the worst, @the_riley. I just round up each payment a little too.
