Pro tip: I switched from a basic spreadsheet to a dedicated invoicing app last quarter.

I was using Google Sheets to track everything, but after a $4,800 project payment got lost in the shuffle for almost 60 days, I tried FreshBooks. The automatic reminders and payment links got me paid in under a week for the next three jobs. What's the one tool that actually saved you the most time chasing money?

Found the opposite honestly... those apps just created more steps for my clients. A quick text from me gets invoices paid faster than any automated system ever did.

My system cut payment time in half.

Guess my clients prefer my awkward texts over @matthew_walker's fancy system!

My buddy runs a small landscaping crew, about 5 guys. He spent 3 months last year using a free invoicing app that kept glitching and failing to send his reminders. One client literally owed him $2,300 for a big patio job and my friend just assumed the app had notified them twice, but it had never sent anything. He found out after 45 days when he finally texted the guy and was like "hey any update?" The client paid him that same day and even apologized. My friend switched to just texting his invoices as PDFs through WhatsApp and says he's never had a payment sit longer than 2 weeks since. Sometimes the simple stuff just works better than all the fancy bells and whistles.
