Raised my rates 40% and landed 3 new contracts the next week
I was scared to do it for like a year. Kept thinking I'd scare everyone off. Finally bumped my hourly from $50 to $70 for new proposals only. First client didn't even blink. Second one said 'that's reasonable'. Third one signed same day. Now I'm mad at myself for leaving money on the table for so long. Has anyone else tested a big rate jump and gotten zero pushback?

Ha, love this. Now you get to spend the next year kicking yourself for every single contract you took at the lower rate. The math is painful if you think about it too long.

@lee.cora that "kicking yourself" line hits way too close to home. I've been going over my old invoices all morning and yeah, it stings. Every single one of those lower rate contracts was a choice I made thinking I was being smart. Now I'm just sitting here doing the math and realizing how much money I left on the table. I keep telling myself to stop looking at it but I can't. Really wish someone had knocked some sense into me sooner.

The math is painful if you think about it too long"... man @lee.cora, are you psychic or something? I've been sitting here doing the numbers in my head and it's worse than I thought.
