Shoutout to the accountant who told me my pricing was a mess

I showed my 2023 numbers to a tax pro in Denver last month, and she pointed out I was charging $75 an hour for some things and $50 for others with no real reason. She said, 'Your time is worth the same no matter the task, this just makes taxes harder.' So I switched to a flat $65 rate across the board starting this quarter. It feels way cleaner already. Has anyone else simplified their rates like this and noticed a difference?

Honestly, that's how most of my life needs to be organized.

But what if some tasks genuinely take more skill or effort?

What do you mean by "genuinely take more skill"?

Back in 2021 I had three different rates for web work and it was a nightmare come tax time (seriously, spreadsheets everywhere). I finally just picked $85 an hour for everything and it made bookkeeping so much simpler, even though I lost some money on the rare complex project. The peace of mind from not second-guessing my pricing every time someone asked for a quote was totally worth it.
