Switched from QuickBooks self-employed to FreshBooks and actually saved $50 a month

I was paying $30 a month for QuickBooks self-employed and still had to manually import half my transactions from Stripe. Finally tried FreshBooks last month after a client recommended it and now I pay $15 a month and everything auto-syncs from my bank, PayPal, and Stripe. The expense tracking is way cleaner too, I can actually see where my money goes without digging through spreadsheets. Anyone else find a cheaper accounting tool that works better for their freelance setup?

My buddy actually had the exact same experience with FreshBooks but then ran into issues once his client list hit around 20. The auto-sync started missing invoices and he'd have to manually match payments anyway, so your mileage may vary as you scale up. I stuck with QuickBooks self employed because for me the $30 covers the bank rules I've built up over 3 years which save me way more than $15 a month in headaches. Plus FreshBooks got weird with their pricing tiers last year when I looked - they started charging extra for things like recurring invoices which felt kinda nickel and dimey. Not trying to rain on your parade, just saying what works for one setup might not hold up for another.

Dang man that's good to know about FreshBooks hitting the 20 client wall. I just went with Wave since it's free and I only got like 10 regulars, but I can see how scaling up would break the whole thing. You're probably right that sticking with what you know for 3 years is worth the extra $15 lol.

Ain't that the truth, it's wild how something that works perfect for one person can be a total headache for someone else. Glad you found what clicks for your setup though, that's half the battle right there.
