That one week in April where I got paid for a job I forgot I did

I was cleaning up my old files and found an invoice from six months back for a small logo job, so I sent it on a whim. The client paid it the next day, adding a $200 bonus for the delay, which was a total surprise. Has an old invoice ever come back to pay off for you like that?

Anyone else ever find money they left in a pocket of winter coat in July? I swear that's the closest I've come to free money, but it's usually just a gum wrapper and a receipt. I'm way too disorganized to pull off what you did, I'd forget to even look for the invoice in the first place. My luck, I'd send it, the client would be like "who are you again?" and I'd have to pretend I was hacked. Honestly, the fact you got a bonus is basically proof that the universe has favorites and I am not one of them.

Wish I had that kind of luck. Honestly, sending an old invoice feels kinda risky to me, like it could annoy a past client and burn a bridge. I'd probably just write it off as a loss and move on. Getting a bonus on top of it seems like a total fluke.

Found a check from 2018 in an old jacket once, it was like free money. I get what blair990 means about the risk though, some clients would totally side-eye a late invoice. Ever have a random find like that?
