That one week in March where I landed zero gigs but got more done than ever

I had a whole week with no paying work lined up, which usually freaks me out. Instead of panic applying, I spent Monday through Thursday cleaning up my portfolio site and rewriting my about page. By Friday I had three cold emails ready to go that actually got replies the next week. Anyone else find that forced downtime sometimes works better than hustling non stop?

That's fair, but I don't buy it. Forced downtime is just lost income, and I'd rather take a crappy job than sit around pretending a cleaned up portfolio pays the bills.

People are acting like a few days off means you're going to end up in a cardboard box. You can take a breather without it ruining your whole career. Isn't letting a subpar gig burn you out worse than a little gap in your schedule?

It's like we've all bought into this idea that being busy equals being valuable, you know? The whole "hustle culture" thing has people terrified of having a quiet Tuesday night with nothing to do.
