Heard a lawyer at a networking event say 'never work with friends' and I think that's terrible advice

My buddy's brother drafted my first contract for free and it turned into a steady referral stream that paid for itself 5 times over last year, so has anyone else found that informal connections actually lead to better freelance legal work than cold hires?

Used to be all business with lawyers until a buddy hooked me up with a real estate attorney for beer money, changed my whole view on mixing friends and work. What kind of informal connections have paid off for you?

Beer money" for a real estate attorney sounds off to me lol, pretty sure that's malpractice territory even if it's a buddy deal.

Beer money for legal advice? @casey268 that's wild, sounds like a huge risk even for a buddy deal.
