Legal template guy told me my NDA was 'aggressively bad' and I should never use it
Last month I sent a draft NDA to a client and he forwarded it to his lawyer. Got back a single line email: 'This reads like you're already in a fight.' Turns out I had all these super harsh clauses in there from some free template I found online. The lawyer stripped it down to 2 pages. I thought being tough was protecting me but it was just making me look like a pain to work with. Has anyone else had a lawyer completely rewrite your standard forms?

What clauses did it have that pissed them off so much?

Right @matthewking, I genuinely feel bad for anyone stuck dealing with clauses that ridiculous.

So the big one was a non-compete clause that basically said you couldn't work for any competitor within like a 50 mile radius for 2 whole years after leaving. That's insane for a regular sales job tbh. And there was also something in there about them owning any ideas or improvements you came up with, even if you did it on your own time at home. Like they really tried to claim your brain 24/7.
