Switched from email to text for client updates and it doubled my response rate

I used to send these long email updates to clients every Friday afternoon. Spent maybe 30 minutes drafting each one. Then last fall I had a client in Austin who just stopped replying to emails entirely. Started texting him quick 2 sentence updates instead and he responded within the hour. Now I do that with all my contract clients and I get approvals in 15 minutes instead of 3 days. Has anyone else found that shorter channels work better than formal communication?

Honestly, the email to text switch is a game changer. I had a client who would ghost my nicely formatted emails for a week, then I sent a 3 word text asking if they liked the layout I sent and got a "looks great, go ahead" back in 5 minutes. Now I just send a quick photo with a short note and get approvals same day. Short and sweet is the way to go for sure.

That's the whole thing right there. People don't want to read a wall of text. A quick photo and three words gets the job done way faster. Why would anyone go back to long emails after that?

Short and sweet is the way to go" is exactly right. @troyc17 nailed it too. I think people just zone out with long emails now. A quick text cuts through all that noise and gets you an answer before they even finish reading. I've started doing the same with my clients and it works every time. No one has the attention span for a novel in their inbox anymore.
