A client I had in Austin told me to always charge for revisions separately
I was doing unlimited revisions for $30 an hour and wondering why my freelance graphic design income was flat. She pointed out that I was basically working for free when clients asked for 10 rounds of tweaks. Has anyone else tried this and seen a real change in their monthly take?

Learned that lesson the hard way after redesigning a logo 14 times.

yeah 14 times is brutal. what i started doing was giving them 3 totally different directions right off the bat so they can pick a lane before we dig into details. i also tell them upfront that after the third revision i charge for extra rounds, that usually makes them think harder about what they actually want. saved me from a lot of those infinite loop situations.

Man that 14 revision story hits close to home. It's rough when a client keeps circling back because they really don't know what they want yet. Having a hard limit on revisions before extra costs is the only way to keep your sanity with those projects.
