Appreciation post: I picked a $500 retainer over a $2000 project last month and it saved my sanity.
The big project had a nightmare client attached, so I took the steady, smaller gig and now I have mental space to actually enjoy my work again, but does anyone else feel like they're constantly choosing between money and peace?

Yeah, the therapy part is the real cost.

Yeah "cost me a year of therapy" hits hard, @casey268. I read something about how bad clients can do more damage than just the lost money.
