Burned $700 on a fancy projector for client presentations

Bought that fancy portable projector thinking clients would be wowed during pitches, but now it sits in my closet because every meeting ended up on Zoom anyway. Any other freelancers regret buying presentation gear that's just collecting dust?

Read an article from a sales blog that said the same thing @mason.drew is getting at about in-person being more about trust than just showing slides. Even with all the Zoom convenience, something gets lost when you're not in the same room actually looking at something together. Makes me wonder if I should try harder to push for those face-to-face meets like you said, since the gear's already paid for. The article pointed out that a lot of clients are just defaulting to virtual because it's easy, not because it's better for the pitch. Maybe that projector can still earn its keep if I start saying no to some Zoom calls.

Yeah man, totally agree with you both. I bought this expensive portable speaker set for backyard hangouts thinking it would make get-togethers more fun, but now it just collects dust in my trunk because everyone just wants to meet up at a bar or stay home on FaceTime lol. I feel like the default for everything is virtual now, even when it makes sense to be in person. The one time I actually brought it out for a friend's barbecue, it was a total pain to set up and nobody even cared about the sound quality. So I'm with you on trying harder to push for those face-to-face moments, even if the gear feels like a hassle sometimes.

Forcing clients into a physical meeting with a projector actually builds way more trust than another boring Zoom call.
