Hit $5k in a single month for the first time and almost didn't notice

I've been freelancing for about 2 years now, mostly doing copywriting for small biz blogs. Last month I wrapped up a big batch of product descriptions for a local candle maker and a few ongoing newsletter gigs. When I tallied up my income at the end, it came to $5,120. I mean, I don't even track my earnings that closely month to month, so seeing that number felt weirdly validating. Has anyone else had a surprise milestone like that sneak up on them?

Right? It's like you blink and suddenly you're doing better than you thought. Meanwhile I'm over here counting every single penny like it's gonna sprout legs and run away. That candle maker must have a lot of product descriptions, too bad they didn't send a free candle with the paycheck. $5k is nothing to sneeze at though, seriously good for you. Just don't let the tax man find out or he'll want a piece of that surprise pie.

That thing about the tax man hitting the "surprise pie" is way too real. I swear every time I get excited about a good month I remember the government wants like 30% of it and it honestly kills the vibe. But still, hitting that number without even obsessively tracking it feels way more rewarding than staring at spreadsheets all month.

Honestly kills the vibe every time. Just let us enjoy the surprise pie for a minute before taking a slice.
