Hot take: My home office setup is a joke after 4 years freelancing

I’ve been working from my dining table in Austin since 2021 and my back is killing me from this cheap chair... last week I dropped $40 on a lumbar pillow and it made things worse somehow. Has anyone else just given up on making their workspace comfortable?

My buddy Mark in Denver tried the same thing with a lumbar pillow from Amazon last fall. He said it felt like someone shoved a rolled up towel against his lower back and he couldn't sit for more than 20 minutes without wanting to stand up. He ended up just dragging his old patio chair inside because the cushion was at least flat and not pushing on him weird. After a week of that he finally found a used Herman Miller on Facebook Marketplace for 200 bucks from some tech guy who was moving. That chair fixed all his back problems but he still complains about the desk height now. Some people just can't win with office setups I guess.

Haha yeah my buddy tried a weird back pillow too. Total fail.

Bought one of those contoured memory foam seat covers off a late night infomercial and it shoved my hips forward like a plow. @scott.alex, your buddy's patio chair story hit close to home because I just gave up and stacked two couch cushions on my dining room chair last winter. Ended up fixing the angle with a folded bath towel wedged against the chair back, been using it ever since.
