My laptop charger died mid-call with a client yesterday and I had to scramble
I was on a Zoom call with a big client in Chicago and my charger just gave out completely. I ended up finishing the call on my phone with 15% battery, has anyone else had a tech failure ruin a meeting for them?

Does it feel like technology these days has this weird built-in timer where it knows exactly when you need it most? I mean, my laptop has done the same thing right before a deadline. It's almost like everything is designed to hold out just long enough to get your hopes up. Maybe it's just me but I feel like we're all one battery failure away from a total work disaster.

My old Dell crapped out on me exactly 37 minutes before a final project was due back in 2018. I had the whole thing saved on a flash drive from a panicked backup habit I picked up, which saved my ass. @flores.mark your point about it knowing when you need it most is so on point, I swear my phone waits for the exact worst moment to update itself. After that laptop died, I started emailing myself critical files every time I finish a chunk of work. Hasn't failed me since, plus it gives me a reason to avoid working for a few minutes.

Actually its more about us noticing the bad moments more than the good ones with technology.
