Shoutout to the client who told me my invoices were too confusing

I had this client back in March who paid late every single time for like 4 months. I was getting frustrated until they finally said my invoices had too many line items and they couldn't tell what was for what. So I switched to a simple format with just the total hours and a flat rate for each project phase. Now I get paid on time about 90% of the time. Has anyone else had a client give feedback that actually made your workflow better?

I paid a client in coins once just to see if they'd notice...

Maybe next time pay them in Monopoly money and see how fast they figure that out.

My cousin tried something similar with his lawn care guy. He paid him entirely in two dollar bills from the bank one time. The guy just stood there staring at the stack for a good minute trying to count it all out. I guess it's a good way to make sure they actually look at what you're giving them. Seems like the Monopoly money idea would just get you a lawsuit or something though. Probably best to stick with the weird bill trick if you want to mess with people.
