Spent 6 months sending project estimates without a signature line on the contract
A client in Denver pointed out last week that I'd been letting people verbally agree to my rates, and now I'm wondering how much money I left on the table has anyone else missed something obvious like that in their freelance setup?

Have you come across that book "The E-Myth Revisited"? I remember reading something about how small business owners get so caught up in the actual work they totally miss the basic paperwork stuff. I'd be curious how many of those missing payments were from people who just forgot to send a follow up invoice versus people who actually thought the verbal agreement was enough. Its a tough lesson, but now you can fix it going forward without wondering forever.

Read somewhere that 40% of freelancers forget signature lines. Ouch.

Been seeing that stat thrown around a lot but I'm pretty sure the original study was about self-employed people forgetting to add their LLC or something similar, not just regular signature lines. Might want to double check that source.
