That one week where three projects all wanted final payment on the same Friday

I mean, it was a perfect storm of bad timing. I had a video edit for a bakery in Portland, a website update for a local gym, and some social media graphics for a friend's new band, all due that day. I was up until 3 AM just sending invoices and chasing down the last few files. Has anyone else had a bunch of deadlines line up like that, and how do you space them out better?

Oh man, that buffer day idea is so smart. I should totally start quoting my project end dates as a few days before the client's real deadline (just between us, of course). That way the panic is on my schedule, not theirs.

I used to just take deadlines as they came, but getting burned like that taught me to build in buffer days. Now I ask for final payments a week before the actual due date. It gives everyone some breathing room when things pile up.

And I even label that buffer week as "client review time" on my calendar.
