That time I swore off project management tools for 2 years

I was dead set against Trello for the longest time. Thought it was just a fancy digital to-do list that took more time to update than actually doing the work. But after missing a deadline for a $750 article rewrite because I lost the client's notes in a text chain, I gave it a real shot. Three months in and I've got my whole workflow organized across boards, no regrets. Any other freelancers here have a tool they judged too quickly?

Wait, $750 for a rewrite? And you lost the notes in a text chain? That's a brutal way to learn a lesson. I would have been sick to my stomach for a week after that. Glad Trello finally clicked for you though, it's one of those tools that just works once you get past the setup.

@henry150 you nailed it, I was sick to my stomach for two solid weeks after that. Even now I get a little twitchy when I think about losing all those notes in a text chain. It's like I paid $750 just to learn that my phone's not a filing cabinet. At least Trello's been good to me since then, but man, that was a pricey way to figure it out. I still get a little queasy when I see a long text thread pop up from a client.

$750 buys a LOT of good notebooks, that's for sure.
