The shift from chasing every lead to saying no changed my freelance game.

I used to take every job that came my way, even the small $50 logo tweaks that ate up my whole evening. After getting burned by a client who demanded six revisions on a $100 project last March, I decided to stop. Now I only take projects over $500 and I actually ask for a deposit upfront. Has anyone else found their income went up after they stopped accepting the lowball stuff?

Funny how saying no more often actually brings in more.

Doesn't that depend a lot on the specific situation though?

Read something recently about how scarcity actually increases perceived value. That "no" helps people see what you offer as more exclusive.
