I finally got a blog post to rank after switching up the anchor text!

I wrote a long guide for a client's site and used the same keyword in every link at first. When I mixed in more natural phrases like 'learn more here' and 'check this out', the post started moving up in search results. It took about two months to see the change, but it was worth the wait. What anchor text tricks have you all tried lately?

Tried moving from those exact match anchors to partial matches with more context last quarter. Started using phrases like "according to this guide on [topic]" instead of just the raw keyword. The pages slowly gained traction over six weeks, nothing huge but steady.

Still saw better results with exact matches last time I tested, weird right?

Why did I ever think exact match anchors were the only way?
