Just realized my "quick" competitor analysis took me 6 hours instead of 30 minutes

Six hours for a competitor analysis sounds like you fell down a rabbit hole of checking their social media engagement rates. Did you start with a clear list of what you needed to know or just jump into their website and keep clicking? I always tell myself I'm just going to check their pricing page and then three hours later I'm reading their CEO's college blog from 2007. That kind of deep dive can be useful but you gotta ask yourself what actually matters for your next move.

Honestly, I gotta push back a little on this one. Sometimes you don't know what matters until you're three pages deep into something you didn't plan for. I've had competitor analysis sessions where the real gold was buried in their community Q&A section (not their pricing page at all) and I only found it because I let myself wander. The whole "start with a clear list" thing sounds great in theory, but if you're too rigid you miss the weird stuff that actually makes them tick. A little aimless clicking isn't a waste if you come back with one solid insight you wouldn't have found otherwise. Not everything has to be efficient, you know?

Kinda makes you wonder what you were really analyzing in there, huh.
