Last Tuesday was my worst freelance day in 6 months

I had three client calls cancel back to back, which wiped out $400 in expected work. Then my main SEO tool subscription got declined because I forgot to update my card after it expired. I spent two hours on hold with support just to get it working again. Has anyone else had a day where everything just fell apart at once?

I mean, the SEO tool thing is such a gut punch because it's totally your own fault but also somehow so easy to forget. Idk about you but was there like one specific moment that felt way worse than the others or was it just a slow burn of everything piling up? For me it's always the wasted time on hold that makes the money part sting more.

Oh totally, I get what you mean about the "gut punch" thing. It's like, you know you messed up but it still stings so bad. I actually gotta gently disagree with you on one point though @taylor_wells. For me, the wasted money always hurts way more than the time on hold. Like yeah, waiting forever on hold is annoying, but when I realize I literally flushed hundreds down the drain because I forgot to cancel something, that's a whole different level of stomach drop. It's the double whammy of feeling stupid AND broke at the same time. And the worst part is knowing you could've avoided it with like two clicks if you'd just remembered. So I guess mine is more of a slow burn with a big money moment at the end, not so much the hold time adding to it.

And the worst part about forgetting that card update is how stupid you feel afterwards because you know you had every chance to fix it before it became a problem. It's like you're paying for the mistake twice - once with the lost time and again with that sinking feeling of "why didn't I just do this last week." Do you find yourself checking those expiring cards more obsessively now or does that paranoia fade pretty quick?
