Met a guy at a coffee shop in Austin who changed how I pitch SEO packages
I was working on my laptop at this little spot on South Congress last Tuesday and this older freelancer sat down next to me. He asked what I was working on and I told him I was struggling to explain why my $500 monthly retainer was worth it to a new client. He said 'stop selling the work, sell the result - tell them you'll get them 10 extra calls a month for $50 each.' That one line made me rethink my entire pricing page. Has anyone else had a random stranger just break through a mental block like that?

And now this guy is going to walk around thinking he's some kind of coffee shop pricing guru. I swear, every freelancer in Austin has a story about getting their whole business model fixed by a stranger in five minutes. Next thing you know, someone's going to tell me the barista gave them the secret to closing at 10x rates with a latte art. But honestly, the real trick is probably that he was just saying what you already knew but needed to hear from someone who wasn't you. I bet he also told you to just raise your prices and see who still pays, which is basically the same advice everyone gives but only works when a stranger says it.

Ran into a friend whose whole pricing changed after a stranger at a bookstore told him to charge for peace of mind.
