Saw a client's traffic tank after a core update at a meetup in Austin

They'd been ignoring E-E-A-T completely, focusing only on keywords. Has anyone rebuilt a site's authority from scratch after something like that?

Yeah, that Austin meetup was a good one. Honestly, the rebuild is less about authority from scratch and more about finally building the real expertise they never had. It's a long road back.

Totally, we're finally fixing the old weak spots.

Look at the last three years of their project history... they've had the same core team the whole time. Calling it a lack of expertise is just making excuses for bad planning. That Austin meetup felt like a victory lap for a race they haven't even finished yet. Honestly, rebuilding from scratch might have been smarter than trying to patch a foundation that was never level. It feels like they're just putting new paint on old, weak walls and calling it a fix.
