Can we talk about when pals pop in while you're deep in a project?

Some see it as a welcome distraction, others hate the interruption. What's your view?

My brain does a full factory reset every time.

Is getting interrupted really that bad? Like hugorobinson said, a full reset might be exactly what you need to see a problem fresh. People act like a two minute chat is some huge crime against their work, but it's usually not that serious. Most of the time you can just pick right back up where you left off.

Honestly, I used to get so mad when someone would swing by my desk mid-flow. But last week my friend asked a dumb question about my code that totally broke my tunnel vision, and I instantly saw the stupid bug I'd been staring at for an hour. Sometimes your brain just needs that little shake-up, you know? Now I see a quick chat as a possible reset button, not just a rude stop.
