Lost a whole project file right before a deadline in Denver.
My external drive failed during a coffee shop upload. Had to pull two all-nighters to rebuild from scratch and email scraps.

That feeling is the absolute worst. Read an article once about how common drive failure is, way more than people think. They called it "silent data corruption" where files just rot without any warning signs. Makes you want to have backups of your backups, honestly. Spending those nights redoing work is a brutal lesson nobody should have to learn the hard way.

Silent data corruption" is such a scary phrase. Yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I'm paranoid about my backup setup.

Totally agree with @samreed, that's the kind of thing that keeps you up at night. Makes a solid 3-2-1 backup plan feel like a basic need, not just extra work.
