Had to pick between a cheap $20 wireless mic vs a $150 Sennheiser for a wedding shoot last weekend

I went with the cheap one cause I was short on cash and figured it'd be fine for one gig. The audio cut out during the vows and I had to patch it together from a backup camera mic. Anyone else ever gamble on budget gear and regret it on a big day?

So you didn't test the cheap mic first at the rehearsal dinner or anything? That's a rough spot to be in when the vows are happening and you hear nothing but dead air. Did the couple ever notice the audio switch or did you manage to hide it in the edit?

Read somewhere that even cheap mics can work great if you test them first in the actual venue.
