Spent a month going to local video networking meetups in person instead of online groups and got zero gigs from it
I figured face to face would land me more work, but turns out everyone there was just trading phone numbers and no one actually hired anyone, so now I'm back to scouring Facebook groups where I actually got two projects last quarter, has anyone else had better luck with in person stuff?

In person meetups are just networking for the sake of networking half the time. Online groups actually get you paid.

RIGHT?? In person meetups are such a waste of time for actual work. Went to like five of them last year and all I got was a bunch of awkward small talk and people handing me business cards I never used. Online groups are where the real opportunities are.
