Appreciation post: My desk cable mess took a full day to fix

I finally decided to tackle the jungle of wires under my desk yesterday morning. I thought it would take maybe an hour, but untangling, labeling, and running everything through sleeves took until dinner time. I found three old phone chargers I forgot I owned and a power strip from 2015. Has anyone found a truly simple way to keep this under control without it becoming a huge job?

Honestly I just got a cheap pack of those velcro cable ties from the hardware store. Wrapping up the extra slack every few months keeps it from becoming a total disaster again.

Tbh that "full day to fix" part is so real, I've been there. What finally worked for me was getting a cable management box for the power strip and all the big plugs. It hides the worst part of the mess. Then I just use basic zip ties to group cords that go to the same area, like all the monitor wires together. It doesn't look perfect but it stops the jungle from growing back so fast.
