Got told my home office looked like a 'depressing cubicle' and it stung
A friend visited my workspace in Portland and said, 'Man, this feels like a gray box where ideas go to die.' I had just a desk, a monitor, and a filing cabinet. That comment stuck with me for days. I ended up painting one wall green, got a secondhand armchair for reading, and hung up some local art. Now I'm torn between keeping it super minimal for focus or adding more personal stuff to feel inspired. What's your take on decorating a workspace?

Maybe find a middle ground with just a few things that actually make you happy.

Three books on a shelf changed my whole mindset about minimalism.

Yeah, I went through the same thing after my partner called my setup a "hospital waiting room." I added a small shelf for some books I actually like and a decent lamp, and it made a huge difference. It's still clean, but now it feels like my space.

I used to think bare walls helped me focus, but a little color actually works better.
