My Portland co-working space kicked me out for taking a client call in the quiet zone
Last week, I was at The Hive on 3rd Ave and got a surprise video call from a client in Chicago. I stepped into the quiet room to take it, thinking it was the polite thing to do. The manager came in and told me to leave right then because 'quiet means silent,' even though I was just talking softly for 15 minutes. I've been a member there for 3 years and always followed the rules, so this felt way too strict. Has anyone else had a co-working space enforce rules that just don't make sense for actual freelance work?

Got kicked out of a library once for whispering. I mean, it's supposed to be quiet, not a tomb. Some places just take the rules way too literally.

Not a tomb" is a bit much, libraries do need quiet.

Seriously? It's just a library. People need to chill.

I remember one time I went to a library in this tiny town and they had a sign saying "absolute silence required" near the children's section. A kid sneezed and the librarian actually shushed him so loud it echoed. It felt like we were in a museum for books instead of a place where people actually use them. Have you ever run into a librarian who took the quiet rule way too far?
