Rant: That coworking space downtown smells like stale popcorn and regret

I tried that new place on 5th Street last week and the smell hit me right at the door. They have a free popcorn machine in the corner but nobody cleans it, so the whole room just reeks. Am I the only one who can't concentrate when the air smells like a movie theater dumpster?

parker_webb said "some smells just stick to you all day" and that's exactly it. I had a similar problem at my old gym, they had these cheap air fresheners that smelled like fake pine and sweat. Brought a small fan from home, pointed it right at my desk. Helped a ton. Also started keeping a jar of ground coffee near my laptop, strong enough to cut through the bad smell.

My buddy used to work at a place that had a "free coffee" sign but the pot was always burnt. Some smells just stick to you all day and make you wonder what you're even paying for. Could be worse though, at least it's not that fish place that used to be next door.

Wonder if the popcorn smell is covering up something worse like a pest problem or mold.
