I was convinced a $1200/month studio in Denver was the only way to focus, but after 4 months of feeling isolated, I'm now splitting a 3-bed house with two other freelancers for $900 each and the shared energy is a total game-changer.

What other cities have good co-living setups for people who work from home?

Totally get what you mean about the shared energy being a game-changer... I had the same thing happen in Austin. I was in a tiny overpriced place downtown and felt so cut off. Moved into a house with a few other remote workers near Zilker Park and it just changed everything... having people to eat lunch with or just talk about a tough project makes the day so much better. I've heard Portland and Asheville have a lot of similar setups popping up too, with whole houses geared toward freelancers.

Portland definitely has those setups, but Asheville's scene is more about short-term artist retreats than long-term freelancer houses.

Yeah, I used to think those short-term setups were just for artists, but @karen_hill3 is right, that kind of shared energy really does help everyone.
