My 'flexible lease' in Austin turned into a $2,000 nightmare
The landlord said I could leave with 30 days notice, but the fine print charged a full month's rent as a 're-letting fee' on top of that. Has anyone actually found a short-term rental that doesn't have hidden costs?

Yeah, that "re-letting fee" trap is so common. In my experience, the real trick is to look for corporate housing companies instead of normal apartment leases. They're built for short stays, so the costs are upfront, but you'll pay a premium for that clarity. Your mileage may vary, but I found their websites are way clearer about the total move-out price before you sign anything.

Oh man, @john_lopez, that's smart. I'm over here just reading the lease like it's a normal book, not a trap manual.

But sometimes you just need a place to crash fast.
