My old apartment lease was a nightmare for my work schedule
I used to rent a standard one-year place in Austin, but the noise from neighbors during my core work hours was impossible. Last month I moved to a month-to-month spot in a quieter building, and I can actually take client calls at 2 PM now. Anyone else find that flexible leases are the only way to manage freelance hours?

Only way" seems like a strong take for a noise issue.

So was the noise the only problem with the old lease, or did the fixed one-year term cause other issues for your freelance schedule too?

Yeah the fixed term was a real pain. I had a chance for a three month project in another city last fall, but I was stuck because breaking the lease would have cost a fortune. It basically locks you in even when a better work chance comes up.

My friend Sam lost a huge contract because his lease wouldn't let him move to Dallas for six weeks.
