Rental in Austin or the one in Round Rock - I picked wrong

I had to choose between a cheap studio near downtown Austin and a quieter place in Round Rock for $200 less a month. Went with the studio thinking proximity to clients would pay off, but the constant noise from the bar downstairs killed my focus for three weeks. Anyone else pick a spot for networking and regret it?

The bar downstairs was called The Howling Dog. I lasted four nights. My kitchen smelled like stale beer and regret by day two. Tried to work from home once. The bass vibrated through my floor and ruined a whole afternoon of client calls. Moved out after six weeks. Lost the deposit plus the $200 savings I thought I had.

Was it really that bad though? I mean yeah bar below you sounds annoying but six weeks seems pretty quick to throw in the towel @the_john. Were there any quiet hours or did you just not fight it out with the landlord? I've lived above a pizza joint before and yeah the smell was there but you get used to it after a while. Bass sucks for work calls I get that but couldn't you move your desk to a back room or something? Losing $200 on top of the deposit feels like you maybe didn't try everything before bailing. Not saying I would have loved it but I'm just skeptical it was impossible.

Did @viola_garcia56 actually try sleeping through bass that shakes the floors?
