Swapped my standing desk for a cheap dining table and got more done
I was using this fancy adjustable standing desk for 2 years but kept fussing with the height settings. A buddy told me to try a $40 thrift store dining table with a simple chair. Turns out having zero adjustments forces me to focus on work instead of tweaking equipment. Has anyone else found that less expensive gear actually works better for their setup?

My wallet's jealous of your productivity gains, mine just bought a desk from some influencer's ad and I spent more time adjusting it than actually working.

Wait, you spent more time adjusting a desk than actually working at it? That's wild, adjusting it should take maybe 10 minutes tops. I feel like those influencer ads just sell you on the hype and not the actual setup time.

Yo, that's actually hilarious because I had almost the exact opposite thing happen but it proves your point. I bought a super cheap IKEA desk years ago, the kind with the flimsy legs that wobble if you sneeze near it. I spent months thinking I needed this fancy standing desk to fix my posture and productivity. Then one day the IKEA desk just collapsed under my monitor and I had to use a folding table from my garage for two weeks. That stupid folding table was the most productive two weeks of my life. I wasn't even thinking about the desk anymore, I was just working. Now I'm scared to buy anything nice again because what if it makes me worse at my job.
