Hit 50 repeat clients last month and it caught me off guard
I was just updating my spreadsheet for 2023 and noticed I had 50 different people who hired me more than once. That number surprised me because when I started freelancing back in 2018 in Austin I never thought I would get that kind of loyalty. Most of them came from word of mouth after I did solid work on their first project. Has anyone else kept track of how many repeat clients they have?

That "caught me off guard" feeling is real. It's wild how repeat clients sneak up on you like that - you're just grinding through projects and next thing you know you've built a whole network of people who trust you.

That's the real trick though, once you get a few repeat clients it feels like the work just keeps showing up. @sagejackson nailed it, you don't even notice it happening until you look back one day and realize half your income is from people you already worked with.

Not quite true that you don't notice it happening. You definitely feel it when a past client reaches back out, that first email. The real surprise is just how fast those repeat clients stack up before you realize you're not chasing new work as much anymore.
