Rant: That "buffer zone" advice I ignored for 3 years finally bit me
I always told myself a week of buffer cash was enough, but last Tuesday my laptop died and a $450 repair bill hit right when a client in Chicago delayed a check. Took me 2 days to juggle credit cards and dip into savings I didn't want to touch. Anybody else realize their safety net is way too thin after something dumb like this?

Didn't I read somewhere that like 60% of people can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing? Feels like that study was talking straight to me after my own "laptop funeral" last month. Makes you wonder why we keep pretending one week of cash is actually enough.

Wait, wouldn't a laptop repair be more of an unexpected expense than a buffer zone issue? A week of cash should cover a $450 hit if you plan for random stuff like that.

Yeah I actually just read something about how people treat laptops like they're appliances now and forget they're basically fragile computers that can die anytime. A $450 repair stings less if you've got that week buffer sitting there versus having to put it on a credit card and hope. You feel like most folks underestimate how often stuff like that pops up?
