Spent $450 on a fancy noise-cancelling headset for video calls... best or worst move?

I dropped $450 on a Sony headset last month thinking it'd make my Zoom meetings smoother. First week, a client said my audio sounded muffled and I had to switch back to my old $20 mic. Now I'm wondering if I should return it or give it more time. Has anyone else had good luck with pricy audio gear, or is it just hype?

Oh come on, you're giving up way too soon. That muffled sound was probably your positioning, not the headset. I bought a $500 pair of Sennheisers for work calls and at first I sounded like I was talking through a pillow. Then I realized the mic was too close to my mouth. Moved it an inch to the side and suddenly I was crystal clear. You paid for top tier audio processing and noise cancellation. That matters when your cat decides to yowl during a client pitch or your neighbor fires up a leaf blower. Give it two more weeks. Play with the settings. If it still stinks, return it. But don't blame the hardware yet.

Patricia's right, most of these problems are user error not the gear.

Did you try flipping any settings in the companion app?
