Just realized my old way of picking a new city was all wrong
I used to just look at rent prices and maybe the weather before I moved. Last year I picked Phoenix because the numbers looked good on paper. I didn't think about things like local coffee shop wifi for working, or how spread out everything was without a car. Now I spend a whole weekend researching if a place has good co-working spots and if other freelancers live there, before I even check the rent. Has anyone else had to totally change how they scout a new place?

Totally, I read an article about this, and @hunt.jennifer is right about finding the vibe first.

Yeah, you start looking for the vibe, not just the price tag. I check if there are good parks to walk my dog now, that's a total dealbreaker.

Totally get that vibe check, @hunt.jennifer, but honestly the price tag still has to make sense first for me.
