Moved to Portugal for 6 months and my productivity tanked for the first 2
I packed up and went to Lisbon back in March thinking a fresh city would boost my freelance work. Turns out dealing with a new timezone, finding reliable wifi, and getting a residency card took way more energy than I expected. I barely hit $1,800 my first month there which was half my usual. Anyone else deal with a big dip in income after relocating?

honestly i don't get why people act like relocating is some huge life crisis lol. you moved to a new country and had some paperwork and wifi issues, that's pretty standard stuff. a lot of folks would kill to make $1,800 in a month with the freedom to work from anywhere. two months of lower income is not a "tank" it's just adjusting to a new routine. sounds like you're doing fine if you're already hitting your usual numbers now.

Two months of lower income is not a 'tank' it's just adjusting to a new routine" hit the nail on the head honestly. People love to dramatize things on here but relocating is just paying the stupid tax for a bit while you get your bearings. You trade a couple months of scratchy wifi and forgotten power of attorney forms for a whole new setup where you can work in a hammock if you want to. Seems like a fair deal to me if a few hiccups are the worst of it.
