My cat's artwork changed my view on wipe-on finishes
I used to brush polyurethane for a thick coat, thinking wipe-on was too light. After a project where the brushed finish stayed tacky and my cat walked across it, leaving perfect prints, I see why a thinner layer can be better. What silly moment made you rethink a finishing step?

lol yeah my dog did that with some shellac once, left little sandy paw prints across a tabletop. totally switched to faster drying finishes after that mess

Wait, I actually love the character those little accidents add. @matthewl67, shellac just gives a warmth and depth you can't get with a fast drying poly. Tbh, those sandy paw prints could be a fun story in the wood forever, way better than a perfect, plastic looking finish.
