Went with the slatwall over pegboard for my garage and kinda regret it now

I spent last weekend setting up a full slatwall system from Home Depot because everyone online said it was the better choice for garage storage. Cost me about $350 for the panels and hooks, and now the hooks keep sliding down every time I grab a tool. Has anyone else had this problem with slatwall or am I just using the wrong kind of hooks?

It's funny how we always think the EXPENSIVE option will be better but sometimes the simple stuff just works. I've noticed that pattern with almost everything I buy for the house lately - fancy never equals practical.

Yeah but the cheap stuff breaks twice as fast.

Used to be totally on the "you get what you pay for" train but this thread is making me rethink my whole shopping approach. Ever had a cheap buy actually outlast the pricey version?
